Wattsie first wanted to get his hands on a pair of  decks at the age of 15 when he first heard a set by the renowned Mark E.G, but it wasn’t until two years later at the age of 17 that this finally happened for him after investing in a pair of Gemini XL500’s and a Gemini mixer.  Having being submerged in the dance scene and listening to a lot of German Trance, Wattsie decided that this was the genre for him, but found it difficult to get hold of vinyl’s, mainly due to there being limited internet music stores at the time. So, instead he opted for commercial trance music which was available from his local record store.

Once Wattsie had the decks and had bought himself a collection of tunes, enough to get him started, he got his head down and tried to master the art of dj’ing, although this did not come as easy as he first anticipated.  On many a day he got frustrated in not being able to do what his first intention was, which was beat matching two tunes together.  It wasn’t until after about 6-8 months of continually trying that one day it all just fell into place, and from here onwards, it could only get better for him.

After about four years of mixing on his decks, and mastering playing on his Gemini’s, which was a hard task in itself, he took the next step up which was to get himself a pair of Technics 1210’s and a Pioneer mixer.  This is where things went from strength to strength, as having the Technics enabled him to perfect his dj’ing style with ease.

Wattsie homed his skills playing at many house parties and also outdoor events, including some in North Wales. It was whilst playing at one of these events that he met the organiser of Glitch, an upcoming Hard Dance night in Aberystwyth, and was offered the opportunity of DJ’ing at a future night.  By coming together and DJ’ing at Glitch, both HTDJ’S have strengthened their skills and have developed new techniques. Two years on and HTDJ’S are still playing back 2 back sets on a monthly residency.

After dj’ing for seven years, Wattsie and Smokes thought it was about time to do what they had talked about for many of those years, and that was to broaden their horizons and boost their dj’ing careers.

“we look forward to bringing you some of the best sets you will hear in 2006, and hope you keep coming back for more”

Wattsie
