Smokes (Arron Hiscox) first started DJ’ing at the age of 17, after a trip to Spain where he saw the talents of Judge Jules, Seb Fontain and many more in the superclub BCM. On his return he decided this was something he would like to get into, and saved enough money to buy his first set of decks and mixer. It wasn’t long before he teamed up with Wattsie (Ben Watts, the other half of HTDJS) to start playing the underground party scene in Mid Wales.

After a year of DJ’ing, Smokes was invited to fill a guest slot every month on a local radio station. This provided invaluable experience in producing sets for a commercial audience.

After taking a brief spell away from the scene, Smokes big break came in early 2004 when he was asked to play a starter set for Glitch (now resident DJ). As he was preparing to get ready to take the decks at 10pm, he was asked if he minded playing the last set of the evening. Smokes duly accepted and went on to blow the roof off the club with a mix of hard trance and hard house. From then on, he gained a residency at Glitch and teamed up with Wattsie to deliver some of the best back to back sets ever heard at Glitch.

In the last 3 years, Glitch has played host to a number of top DJs including Marc Vedo, Hinsley, DJ GRH and more recently Jock and Ilogik.

In 2006, HTDJS will be expanding their talents. Having already used CD decks, they will be adding loops and effects to their mixes, to add a new dimension to their sets. This year they will be playing to an international audience through new media including trance sets heard over the internet. Smokes was recently approached by one of the largest internet radio stations (di.fm) to produce a set for transmission during February 2006. Due to its overwhelming response Smokes will be providing sets to a number of interested stations and sites.

“Playing to an audience gives us such an amazing feeling, and we hope that once you hear our sets, you will want us to keep coming back!”
